Innovation and Originality

The IRSAI project aims to revolutionize maritime surveillance by deploying three key pillars. The first is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with a high-resolution camera and infrared sensor, providing unparalleled monitoring capabilities for maritime pollution. The second is an unmanned surface vehicle (USV) with GPS, cameras, and radar for open ocean water sampling and navigation, enabling real-time imaging feed and LED sensor detection for oil spill detection. The third pillar advances oil dispersion modeling by incorporating real-time geographic data from drones and artificial intelligence, improving accuracy in predicting oil spill trajectories. These pillars empower maritime surveillance with high autonomy and accuracy, extending its applications beyond environmental monitoring.

Traditional maritime surveillance faces numerous challenges, including labor-intensive, costly, and slow methods, and scarcity of resources and manpower. This leads to inadequate surveillance capabilities, resulting in illegal discharges and pollution, affecting marine ecosystems, fisheries livelihoods, human safety, and industries reliant on clean waters. IRSAI aims to address these challenges and safeguard the marine environment by introducing cost-effective, efficient, and accurate surveillance methods, ensuring the sustainability of the blue economy.
